GIVE VALUE TO TOMORROW'S FOOD

At the intersection of the agricultural world and consumers, Avril is at the center of the food transition challenges. The Group’s ambition is to take concrete action for more sustainable food, for people and the Planet.

FEED MORE AND FEED BETTER

With rapid global population growth, the improvement in lifestyles and changes in food regimes, it is estimated that global protein demand will increase by 20% between 2020 and 2030.

At the same time, the agricultural sectors are having to invent new, more sustainable models faced with the climate emergency and consumer demand: more local but accessible food, with guarantees in terms of ethics and traceability.

The agricultural world must meet two challenges: produce more, but better, to feed people and animals, while protecting the Planet.

AVRIL, COMMITTED PLAYER TO THE FOOD TRANSITION

“Nurturing Mankind” has been a central element of Avril’s mission for nearly 40 years. For Avril, the food transition is above all an opportunity to grow and share value.

INNOVATE TO IMPROVE TOMORROW'S FOOD

Innovation lies at the heart of Avril’s strategy to build a healthier, more sustainable, and accessible food system for all. To meet consumer expectations and contribute to better nutrition, the Group is multiplying initiatives and evolving its flagship brands:

  • Isio 4, Puget, Costa d’Oro and Lesieur are expanding their product ranges with more organic options, more oils of French origin, stronger support for local supply chains, and enhanced traceability.

2021: Launch of the first 100% French organic rapeseed oil by Lesieur

2022: launch of Lesieur’s “Committed Oils” initiative, co-designed with the farming community, to promote more sustainable practices in French rapeseed and sunflower cultivation.

2024: Isio 4 is now composed exclusively of oils 100% sourced in France (rapeseed, sunflower, Oléisol, linseed). Similarly, Fleur de Colza is produced exclusively from French-grown seeds.

Vivien Paille and Hari&Co, specialists in pulses, cereals, and plant-based alternatives, support the food transition by highlighting the value of plant proteins. Their mission is to promote a balanced and sustainable diet, accessible to the widest audience, relying on local supply chains and culinary innovation to meet the new needs of consumers.

Avril has entered into a partnership with Dutch company DSM, a leader in health, nutrition, and sustainable lifestyles. This collaboration led to the creation of Olatein, a groundbreaking project to extract rapeseed proteins for human consumption—an industrial world-first and a decisive step toward protein autonomy for France and Europe.

To accelerate the development of a 100% French organic supply chain, Avril and the cooperative Terrena created Oleosyn Bio. This entity produces plant proteins for animal feed as well as sunflower and rapeseed oils for human consumption, while providing farmers with sustainable outlets and contributing to French food sovereignty.

Through VP Ingredients, Sunbloom proteins, and Vegini, Avril develops plant-based protein solutions dedicated to the food industry. These innovative ingredients enable the creation of a new generation of sustainable products that meet growing consumer demand for naturalness, nutrition, and alternatives to animal proteins.

2026 objective: use 100% of French seeds.
