A SUSTAINABLE AND RESPONSIBLE COMMITMENT

AN INVESTOR DEDICATED TO THE AGRO-INDUSTRY AND AGRI-FOOD SECTOR

Anchored in the agricultural world, at the origin of the creation of Avril and still at its head, Sofiprotéol is the partner of the agro-industrial and agro-food sectors. This entity intervenes at all stages of the chain and acts as an architect from upstream agricultural production (seeds, genetics, agricultural supplies, etc.) to downstream (agro-industrial and agri-food sectors), including collecting organizations and primary processing.

A STRONG INDUSTRIAL STRATEGY

Sofiprotéol’s actions are driven by one mission: to invest in responsible industries that serve the regions and listen to consumers.

Its industrial and entrepreneurial approach is in line with a long-term development and value creation strategy. Thanks to its knowledge of agro-industrial issues, Sofiprotéol is able to adapt the investment period to the needs of the project presented.

Sofiprotéol has established privileged relationships with the agricultural world: its expert view, its long-term commitment and its support to innovative and value-creating projects are proof of this.

A SUPPORTIVE AND RESPONSIBLE APPROACH

Sofiprotéol places the sustainability of the industry at the heart of its strategy. Its investment policy is based on its ethical charter and its convictions:

  • Agriculture is a solution for the planet
  • Economic growth can and must be respectful of the Earth, in the service of the development of our territories
  • Human intelligence can meet the planet’s food needs with quality, healthy and safe products, accessible to all
  • Solidarity and the strength of the collective must help everyone to make the transition at their own pace.

Sofiprotéol offers flexible investment solutions for customized support:

  • Minority investments in equity, quasi-equity and loans to support players in the agricultural and agri-food sector
  • Financing innovation in the oilseed and protein crop sector
  • Debt financing of players in the agricultural and agri-food sector via the partner fund Sofiprotéol Dette Privée managed by Tikehau
  • Investment in partner funds with a complementary approach

FINANCING INNOVATION FOR ALL MODELS

REINFORCED RESOURCES TO ACCELERATE THE TRANSFORMATION

Sodiaal
Downstream, Sofiprotéol supports the dairy cooperative Sodiaal in a key phase of its development: creating more value for each liter of milk produced by the cooperative’s 17,700 members, and meeting the new expectations of consumers and society. By subscribing to an equity issue with IDIA Capital Investissement, a subsidiary of Crédit Agricole, Sofiprotéol is giving Sodiaal the resources it needs to achieve these objectives.

SEEDS, FOR MORE EFFICIENT AGRICULTURAL CHAINS

Limagrain
In 2021, Sofiprotéol is strengthening the equity of Limagrain Europe, the European leader in corn, wheat, barley, rapeseed and sunflower, with an investment of 25 million euros.
This investment will enable it to continue to develop a multi-species offer based on a large portfolio of varieties, and more widely, its action in favor of ever more sustainable agriculture.

NEW AMBITIONS FOR PLANT PROTEIN

Sofiprotéol has chosen to act in favour of the development of plant protein by supporting Soufflet Alimentaire, a player in the processing and packaging of rice and dried vegetables, as well as in gluten-free functional flours.
Vegini, an Austrian startup that produces and markets meat substitutes made from pea proteins, has also benefited from Sofiprotéol’s support in developing its activities.

RESEARCH FOR INNOVATION

Sofiprotéol also supports innovation through research. Managed on behalf of the oilseed inter-professional organizations, the FASO fund finances innovative research projects aimed at improving the competitiveness of production and developing outlets for these sectors.
